The Idaho School for the Deaf and the Blind (ISDB) Library/Media Center provides a variety of resources and services to visually impaired/blind and deaf/hard of hearing individuals throughout the state. Services are offered to families and professionals, serving them on a local and statewide level. As a part of the state library system, resources are extended to all Idaho residents.
The center is centrally located and houses four libraries; K-3rd grade, 4th grade through adult, K-3rd VI library, Parent resource Library. We have a media/captioned video area/storage area, teachers's materials area, TV Satellite/conference room, and a copy center. Our Center is open from 7:00 AM until 4:30 PM during the regular school days, 7:00 - 2:00 on Fridays.
One of our library/media center's main goals is to promote reading with our students. In Order to do so, a variety of methods and tools are being assimilated into use, including both the utilization and integration of technology as well as non-technological programs.
The
center has a fully automated circulation/catalog system that is online using
Follett's Unison software with over 37,000 books, software, and teaching materials,
etc. We are a member of the Western Library Network (OCLC), which we use for
full marc records and interlibrary loan access. We have six computers workstations
available to students for research. Resources available online include:
